The professional learning & technology innovation class has influenced and shaped my learning experience, growth and plans for ongoing development. The class began by exploring my thoughts and ideas of the roles of an instructional technology coach, challenges and the partnership philosophy. Through this in-depth exploration, I learned the various roles an instructional coach plays in a school setting. While technology integration may be exciting to me I learned that those I am coaching may not have the same enthusiasm. As an instructional technology coach, I now understand I will face challenges. Delving into the partnership philosophy gave me insight into the principles of developing relationships with coaching participants. The seven principles of Knigts partnership philosophy I learned will continue to be a part of my practice in this program and as an instructional technology coach.
My growth started with examining the roles of instructional technology coaches and climaxed with the change game. Performing the interactive change game as an instructional coach I learned creating change can take time. My knowledge of the coaching process grew tremendously. In preparing for a coaching mindset I am working on my relationship with my colleagues and being aware of leaders, innovators and not to forget staff members that can be overlooked.
After the technology workshop, I received several emails from colleagues for additional coaching. I will take advantage of the wanted assistance for ongoing development. My school has an abundance of technology tools so I have opportunities at my fingertips to develop my knowledge and skills. I plan to continue to follow professional organizations and individuals to broaden my knowledge in instructional technology and my usage abilities.
