6.3 Field Experiences
Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)
Artifact: Structured Field Experience 7305
Reflection:
The structured and unstructured field experience logs were completed throughout the Kennesaw State University Instructional Technology program. The logs can be found in the Field Experience section of my Weebly Portfolio. The logs serve as the documentation of my experiences throughout each semester.
Standard 6.3 Field Experiences requires candidates to engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply to content and professional knowledge, skills, and disposition. The knowledge, skills and dispositions have been identified in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC). The field experience I chose for standard 6.3 is from ITEC 7305 Data Analysis and School Improvement. The unstructured field experience log describes an experience that I demonstrated the ability to synthesize and apply knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 and the skills to teach others how to use and implement into the classroom. Through the field experience I learned that a positive disposition along with encouraging and confidence building was successful when working with adults.
The unstructured field experience was a meaningful learning and coaching experience. I learned to synthesize each experience in order to apply it to my professional practice. Identifying the knowledge, skills and disposition required during the field experience required me to delve deeper into the learning experience as it applies to my professional practice and personal productivity. If I were to improve this artifact, I would have used the feedback from my coaching participants to reflect on my knowledge, skills and disposition.
This artifact impacts school improvement, student learning and professional development by directly impacting all three of these areas. The school improved as teachers worked together to understand Microsoft Office 365 features, thus developing professionally. Teachers then took what they learned and implemented it in their classrooms. The impact can be assessed through a Microsoft Office 365 survey for teachers and students.
